
The pitahaya is more commonly refered to as the dragonfruit. It is an extremely beautiful fruit that has dazzling flowers and an intense shape and colour. The dragonfruit is usually a dark red colour, although some types of this fruit are pink or yellow. The skin of the dragon fruit is a thin rind. The skin is usually covered in scales, and the center of the fruit is made up of a red sweet tasting pulp.
The Red - White variety of dragonfruit is the most common one. The white of the inside is a nice thing to add to a fruit salad. The taste of a dragonfruit resembles that of a kiwi but it is often a lot bigger. Try it yourself and discover all the varieties of the dragonfruit.
Yellow dragonfruit (hylocereus megalanthus) also known as the yellow pitahaya, is the sweetest dragon fruit of all.
